MLA Research Paper Footnotes- Looking For A Good Sample

When you are asked to write a research paper in the MLA format, it may be a good idea to get a sample so that you can understand how to properly format the footnotes. It is important to make sure that you properly format your paper because you don’t want to lose points because you didn’t format a footnote properly after you have done all of that research and writing. You can have a beautifully written paper but if it is full of errors, it will only bring it down.

One way to make sure that you format the paper correctly is to find a good sample to use as a guide. It will help you understand what it should look like and will be a great resource to work along with some instructions. Here are some great places to find an example.

  1. Formatting guide
  2. Take a look in the MLA formatting guide. You will be able to get instructions on how to format the footnotes and an example. It is an excellent resource because you get both the instruction and example directly from the source. You will likely have to purchase a copy or get one from the library.

  3. Resource library
  4. Look for an example of a research paper in your resource library. If it was published, it is likely that it is formatted correctly. You will need to check the formatting style to make sure that it is in the MLA format. However, most essays for your field are written in this format so it may be fairly easy to find a good example.

  5. MLA formatting site
  6. There are sites that you can check out that give you all of the main points of this formatting style. You can just check out these sites and get an abridged version of the formatting guide with examples. They are very helpful but not verified for validity, so you can’t trust them one hundred percent.

  7. Image file
  8. You may also find an example that was saved in an image format. You may have to search a separate image search engine to find one but these are usually very helpful because they usually contain notes that explains why certain things were done the way they were. You can learn a lot from one of these examples. Just remember that these are not checked for validity either but they are more than likely correctly formatted.
